BOXING DAY CRICKET
On Boxing Day, the male contingent of the Forbes Clan headed down to the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) to watch the first day of the fourth Ashes Test. It was a cold wet and miserable morning in Melbourne, and getting rained on the walk down from the city didn’t bode well for a good days cricket.
Luck was on our side and our seats were located undercover so we had a dry seat to see the day. One good thing about the cold weather was the queue for beer was nice and short.
The cricket eventually started after a rain delay and the England team were batting. It was opportunistic to see Shane Warne bowl and collect his 700th test wicket. It was a magical moment as all 85,000 people cheered and applauded as Shane ran around the field celebrating his achievement with a certain lack of humility, only to be enveloped by his team mates in what can only be described as man love in whites. Doug managed to photograph the 700th wicket ball just before it crashed into the stumps.
